What began as a handful of curious players has grown into one of Tannum Sands’ most vibrant sporting communities.
Several years ago, a small group of locals at the Tannum Sands Tennis Club decided to give an unfamiliar game a try, pickleball. They’d heard about it through family and friends, some of whom had discovered the fast-growing sport overseas. At the time, pickleball was virtually unknown in Australia, and there was no specialist equipment on hand. Undeterred, players improvised, making use of existing tennis courts and nets to get the game started.
