The Gladstone Musical Society Inc. recently celebrated its 70th Anniversary through a concert held at the New Apostolic Church on Sun Valley Road. Originally founded on the 28th of June 1956 as an orchestra and mixed choir, they performed many classic musicals such as “Oliver”, “Annie Get Your Gun,” and “Half a Sixpence” before the orchestra diminished and they transitioned into a women’s choir. The Gladstone Musical Society finds great purpose in the study and performance of good music, and its repertoire features both fun numbers and more traditional choral pieces.
During their concert, the choir performed a program of “Bring Him Home” from Les Misérables, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” “Count on You” by Bruno Mars, “I Still Call Australia Home” by Peter Allen, among other traditional and beloved classics.
