Gladstone’s Grand Hotel is getting a major refurbishment this month, with KPAT Hotels set to breathe new life into the historic establishment. With careful restoration and planning, the 1890s landmark in the heart of Goondoon Street will be given a revamp while maintaining its heritage charm.
Built in 1898 and designed by Bundaberg architect Frederic Faircloth, who was also responsible for several heritage-listed buildings such as Barambah Homestead in the Gympie Region and the Queensland National Bank in Maryborough, the Grand Hotel has been part of Gladstone’s history for more than 125 years, which then featured 17 bedrooms, a sitting room, two bathrooms, a bar and a parlour.
