Gladstone Regional Council welcomed Mayor Kuniko Tomitaka and an official delegation from Saiki City, Japan, last week as the two cities celebrated the 30th Anniversary of their Sister City relationship.
The original Sister City Agreement was signed in 1996 by Mayors Yuichi Sato (Saiki) and Peter Corones (Gladstone) to promote cultural exchange and community connections, and the visit from Mayor Tomitaka marks the first face-to-face delegation between the two cities since 2019.
