Local students get the opportunities through EQIP!

EQIP has had a successful year supporting year 10, 11 and 12 students to build skills,   knowledge and experience across a wide range of occupations and industries.

205 students participated in structured authentic workplace learning while completing certificate qualifications onsite at local business and industry. One of the big highlights for EQIP and our partners this year was being recognised as a Premier’s Industry Collaboration Award State Finalist at the Queensland Training Awards for our structured authentic workplace learning programs. Important to our success is the destination of our graduating students. Of all 2015 EQIP graduates 59{7a2eb471754f58cbf59baa93ee81dc7b74d186cb2e306188f39c85ba863dbab8} secured an apprenticeship or traineeship compared to 12.1{7a2eb471754f58cbf59baa93ee81dc7b74d186cb2e306188f39c85ba863dbab8} in the Fitzroy region and 8.8{7a2eb471754f58cbf59baa93ee81dc7b74d186cb2e306188f39c85ba863dbab8} State-wide.

In addition, students from all schools completed 1,126 work experience placements to learn about people at work, examine the work role they perform, and develop skills
and knowledge to help them make informed career choices. 1,000 students from all schools attended the Gladstone Careers and Education Expo where exhibitors from all industry sectors helped guide career decisions and provide information on career and education pathway opportunities following school.
