CQU Creates 2020 bolstered by influx of art entries

The CQU Creates 2020 competition has reached a significant milestone with a record number of artists entering works – despite the restrictions imposed on the event by COVID-19.

CQU Art Collection Manager and coordinator of CQU Creates Susan Smith said 89 entries were received in the competition.

“It’s great to see so many entries this year – obviously the COVID-19 restrictions has lead to the creation of many wonderful works of art,” she said.

“The judge, Cameron Curd, from the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, is now looking at the works and we will have an online catalogue in place of a physical exhibition due to COVID-19 restrictions. This will coincide with the launch of an online exhibition in August,” she said.

“The online exhibition will culminate with the announcement of the winners on 4 September, which will also be an online event.”
