Gladstone Rent’s up 64%

Rents in regional Queensland, particularly in Gladstone, have surged dramatically in recent years, intensifying housing challenges for thousands of residents. Since June 2020, rental prices in Gladstone have jumped by 64%, with average weekly costs rising by $180, according to the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA). 

This rent spike has placed significant pressure on the community, with many young people finding it increasingly difficult to save for their first home and essential workers being pushed farther away from their workplaces, families, and friends. Recent data from Digital Finance Analytics reveals that 70% of Gladstone renters are now experiencing rental stress.
