Mayor’s Message

At 80 years old, you could be excused for slowing down – but that isn’t the case with the Mount Larcom Show, continuing to invigorate the community year after year.

Since launching in 1919, the Mount Larcom Show has become a major event and a highlight of the year for the Gladstone Region and surrounds, drawing in over 10,000 people.

Not only a fantastic opportunity to gather as a community, the Show provides a welcome economic boost, with many urban and rural industries and businesses, artists, craft workers, food merchants and stall holders gathering to showcase and sell their goods.

This year we welcome back many crowd favourites, such as the animal shed, free face painting, woodchopping and many more. A fresh face on the block, the Australian National Chainsaw Titles are being held over the course of the Show, an event sure to thrill both the young and old.

Driven by the hard-working and dedicated Mount Larcom and District Show Society team, the Show’s continued success and longevity is a testament to all of you.

I am proud to see Council funding go towards supporting this fantastic community event and providing the “Gladstone Regional Council’s Entertainment and Food Court.”

Mayor Matt Burnett, Gladstone Regional Council

Patron’s Message

As the Society prepares for the 2019 show, we remember the men and women of the Mount Larcom area who had the foresight in 1919 to start an Agricultural Show.

This year is 100 years since that historic event. The years in between have not been easy, and for several years a show was not held owing to WW1 and the Depression of the ’30s.  In 2019 the Show Society will celebrate 80 years of presenting the annual agricultural Show, 100 years since the first Show.

We commend those early pioneers for the work they put in to establish this Show. I know it would not have been easy and it does not seem to be getting any easier, so I congratulate the present committee for their efforts in staging the 2019 Show.
