Origin Energy will soon enter the electricity market in seven regional Queensland centres, challenging Ergon Energy’s long-standing monopoly and offering consumers more choice.
The Sydney-based retailer will launch electricity plans in Townsville, Cairns, Toowoomba, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Maryborough—areas previously served solely by government-owned Ergon Energy. However, customers with rooftop solar will initially be excluded.
