Community spirit and creativity were on full display at Boyne Island Skatepark recently as the Boyne Tannum Turtleway Artscape Project officially unveiled its newest community art bench. The colourful addition to the popular skatepark was celebrated on Saturday, 13 June, bringing together local residents, councillors, school representatives and project supporters for a morning that highlighted the power of community partnerships and local talent.
The winning artwork was created by nine-year-old St. Francis Catholic School student Noah Robinson, whose design was selected through the Skatepark Art Competition. Noah’s vibrant artwork features a sneaker wearing magpie and a kangaroo sporting Crocs, inspired by his friends and the local wildlife that call the skatepark home. The bright and playful design perfectly captures the energy and fun experienced by the many young people who use the facility each day. For Noah, art has been a passion since early childhood. His impressive record already includes eight regional art competition wins, including three consecutive victories in the Paint the Port competition. His latest achievement demonstrates the remarkable talent emerging from our local community.
