Friends of Bindaree Volunteer’s help make elderly residents lives more comfortable & enjoyable

If you don’t already know and frequent the sales regularly, each month the Friends of Bindaree hold a Garage Sale in Boyne Island selling pre-loved goods donated by the public. A weekly sale also happens every Wednesday morning. The sales are run entirely by the wonderful volunteers with their main goal – to make the lives of the elderly residents of the Bindaree Aged Care Facility Lodge a little more comfortable and enjoyable.

Last week the facility had the opportunity to purchase two new Cambro Food Heater/Warmers for the kitchen, at a total cost of $9,310. The units allow for meals to be prepared and then transferred hygienically without loss of temperature from the on-site kitchen to the residents. Kitchen staff at the Lodge report that they are a wonderful innovation for the facility. This purchase was made possible by the money raised  from the Garage Sales, the donations from the public and, of course, the amazing efforts of the volunteers.

Check out the sales happening every Wednesday from 7:30am – 11:30am – Beacon Avenue, Boyne Island. The next Saturday Garage Sale will be on later this month on the 23rd of July.  You can take donations to Bindaree at any time and they can also help collect larger items if you give Andrew or Betty a call on 49 738 165. New volunteers are also welcome!
