Conservation Volunteers Australia’s Gladstone office officially opened their annual Toad Busters season for 2017 on Tuesday 17th Jan at Reg Tanner Park Gladstone. With 24 local volunteers participating they were able to catch 634 cane toads in just under an hour. By removing these cane toads from the environment they will have prevented potentially over 21 million eggs being laid as females can produce between 8,000 – 35,000 eggs at a time and usually breed twice a year.
Toad Busters runs every Tuesday night for 12 weeks from 6 to 8pm at various local parks around Gladstone and is kindly sponsored by Gladstone Regional Council. If you would like to join in on a great family friendly event please call the Conservation Volunteers Australia on (07) 49724969 or email gladstone@cva.org.au for more information.
