Teenagers with a passion for music can gain expert mentoring for free as part of a two-week school holiday initiative presented by Gladstone Regional Council and the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre (GECC).
Registrations are open for 12 to 19-year-olds to take part in the Young Warriors Making Music Live program which commences June 30.
Budding performers will be mentored from rehearsals through to performance with equipment provided, except for instruments.
“Whether their talents are instrumental or vocal, the program allows youths to acquire new skills in a comfortable environment,” Cr. Cindi Bush said.
No auditions or musical experience are required for the program with a relaxed orientation and jam day to assist professional coaches to place participants into bands.
Each band will be encouraged to develop an original piece of music with participants involved in a songwriting workshop, rehearsals and intensive coaching.
Participants will perform a set of two or three songs, including original compositions, at a Big Gig at the GECC at the close of the program, with the most promising getting a chance to perform live on TripleM CQ to thousands of radio listeners!
Places in the Young Warriors Making Music Live program are limited and can be reserved by visiting www.youngwarriors.com.au/qld with registrations closing next week on Friday, June 29.
