Awoonga Dam has been shutdown this past week as part of Gladstone Area Water Board’s (GAWB) long-term Dam Safety Management Program.
GAWB CEO Darren Barlow said there was no need for customers to be concerned about their water during the shutdown thanks to the construction of a $29 million Offline Storage Facility, which provides an alternative raw water supply with the dam must be taken offline.
