Fortescue Metals Group has confirmed the loss of around 90 jobs from its green hydrogen division, including roles at the highly anticipated PEM50 electrolyser project in Gladstone, Queensland. The decision comes as part of a broader restructuring effort, with the company shifting its focus away from large-scale manufacturing and toward research and development.
The job cuts follow warnings earlier this year from Fortescue that global economic conditions and project delays were prompting a reassessment of its green energy investments. This week’s announcement confirms those concerns, with affected positions also reported in Western Australia.
