Chanel College is committed to the development of the whole person – academic, spiritual, emotional, physical, social and cultural. The College is built on the traditions of both the Mercy Sisters and the Marist Brothers.
The College Patron – Saint Peter Chanel, provides the school with a role model of compassion and dedication, and values which have been committed to developing and nurturing in the students.
The College motto: ‘To Live Justly” (Micah 6:8) sums up the aim for which the College was founded and exists today – to teach people to live justly in the sight of God and in the sight of their fellow men and women. “To Live Justly” provides students and staff with a social justice focus which not only involves fund raising for various causes but also raises awareness regarding issues such as Domestic Violence, Harmony Day and Environmental Issues.
“I am always touched by the generosity of our families who support the St Vincent de Paul Easter and Winter appeals where donations of Easter eggs, stuffed toys, non-perishable goods, winter clothing and blankets have been very much appreciated.” – Sharon Volp
The “Buddies Days” is an initiative organised by the Society of St Vincent de Paul where Chanel students volunteer their time on a Sunday to be “big buddies” and share their time and energy with St Vinnies little buddies. These days involve the school’s big buddies keeping little buddies safe and included in the activities which range from treasure hunts, ball games, group games, craft activities, shared lunch and morning tea. They often create strong bonds with the little ones who often want to always be with the same big buddy.
In 2016 Chanel is celebrating our Golden Jubilee. Chanel has experienced many physical changes over the last fifty years. Chanel College has completed construction of Stage 1 of the master plan which involved a new Administration building, new Industrial Design and Technologies precinct, Chapel refurbishment and extension and a new car park. These new facilities were blessed and opened on 1 June 2016 on Chanel Day as part of our Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
