Gladstone recently welcomed Assistant Minister for Trade and Assistant Minister for A Future Made in Australia, the Hon Tim Ayres, alongside Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, the Hon Murray Watt, as part of the Federal Government’s announcement of a $1.24 billion investment in green aluminium.

A key component of the initiative is ensuring that Australia’s aluminium smelters operate on 100% renewable energy by 2036. This transition aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, cut emissions, and align with international climate targets while keeping Australia’s aluminium industry competitive in the global market.
