Property Valuer Josh Stanton of Opteon Gladstone has reviewed data from an article written by demographer Bernard Salt and has ascertained that Gladstone will require 228 new homes every year for the next 25 years to accommodate the projected population growth.
From an analysis of Australia’s 98 largest cities, it was found that Gladstone is now the 31st largest city in Australia by population. It has grown by 46%, equating to an annualised population growth rate of 1.52% per annum. The entirety of Australia is projected to add 8 million people over the next 25 years, and by 2050 some cities such as Melbourne will replace Sydney as Australia’s largest city. Canberra is expected to overtake Newcastle, and Geelong will overtake Wollongong.
