The Hydrogen Flight Alliance (HFA), a pioneering industry collective based in Queensland, has welcomed six new members, growing its ranks to a robust sixteen organizations. United by a mission to revolutionize air travel, the alliance is driving efforts to launch Australia’s first commercial emissions-free hydrogen-powered flight, positioning the country as a trailblazer in sustainable aviation innovation.
The HFA’s ambitious vision centers on enabling a historic milestone: the first hydrogen-powered commercial flight in Australia by 2026. This groundbreaking route will connect Brisbane and Gladstone Airports, utilizing a state-of-the-art, 15-seat Stralis B1900D-HE aircraft. Designed and manufactured in Brisbane, this aircraft will emit nothing but water vapor, leveraging the burgeoning green hydrogen infrastructure in both cities to establish the nation’s inaugural hydrogen-electric aviation corridor.
