PROUDLY LOCAL – PATRICK JEWELLERS CELEBRATE 100 YEARS

Rhyll, Ross and the team at Patrick Jewellers are celebrating 100 years in style with a sale lasting the whole month of October.

The story began in 1919 when Colin D Patrick came across the store that would stay in his family for the next 100 years. Colin opened the store after finishing his apprenticeship with Hardy Brothers in Brisbane and quickly cemented himself as a fine watchmaker and jeweller in the region. The sons Noel and Douglas returned to the business after the Second World War in the 1950’s and continued until current owners Ross and wife Rhyll took over the family business in the 1980’s. Fast forward to 2019 and Patricks Jewellers hits the 100-year milestone, the same name, same family and the same location for 100 years, now that’s a reason to celebrate!

Over the years the business has had to diversify to keep up with trends saying goodbye to the good old fashioned glomesh wallets, silver plate tea sets and believe it or not soda streams but diamonds and timeless classics like the Adina watch have stayed as top sellers.

When we asked what keeps the family business alive through the tough times Rhyll simply replied, “We don’t compete. We sell quality pieces, totally different stock to our competitors and we’re independent”.

Our biggest achievement was when we were given members of the year from our buying group Nation Wide Jewellers for Australia and New Zealand, we were honoured to be given such an award.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the years, and we look forward to welcoming shoppers to our 100-year celebration sale for the month of October.”
