Electricity prices in South East Queensland are set to increase by up to 3.7 per cent from July 1, following the Australian Energy Regulator’s (AER) release of its 2025-26 Default Market Offer (DMO).
The AER said the rise reflects ongoing risks in the wholesale electricity market, driven largely by a high number of outages at Queensland’s ageing coal-fired power stations and rising network costs linked to inflation.
