Two Girls from Amoonguna is a vibrant, moving, deeply personal and honest portrayal of community life and government control art exhibition lighting up the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum until the 25th of April. Featuring powerful new works by Arrernte and Southern Luritja artist Sally M. Nagngala Mulda alongside Western Arrarnta artist Marlene Rubuntja, this exhibition brings stories of friendship, resilience, and community life to the heart of Gladstone.

Blending video, bush-dyed and hand-sewn soft sculptures, and striking observation list paintings, the exhibition offers something unique around every corner. The centerpiece is an animated work titled Arrkutja Tharra, Kungka Kutjara, Two Girls. It delves into the reality of First Peoples’ experiences in Central Australia, chronicling the artists’ successes and struggles. It invites visitors to slow down, look closely, and connect with the lived experiences behind each piece, whether you’re an art lover or just looking for something different to do locally.
