I have officially nominated for the position of Mayor of the Gladstone Regional Council and I seek your support at the Local Government election on Saturday 19th March 2016
I was born and bred in the Gladstone Region and my family connections extend back five generations.
With my daughter celebrating her 19th birthday and both my sons in high school, from a family point of view I can now commit to the many hours I know are required to fulfil the Mayoral role. I believe after almost 16 years’ experience in Local Government, five of those serving as Deputy Mayor, it’s time.
During my time as Councillor and Deputy Mayor, I have always had the best interests of the community at heart, and that will continue should I be elected Mayor of the Gladstone Regional Council.
As Mayor I would require a majority of Councillors’ support to pass any resolution, however I am seeking a mandate:
To ease costs for ratepayers by reducing operating and capital expenditure
To work closely with the Region’s primary producers to support growth and sustainability
To encourage and promote new and existing business development through fair infrastructure charges and initiatives to create more jobs across the Region
To increase financial and in kind support for the hard working volunteers in Community Groups and Sporting Clubs
To ensure the Gladstone Region receives its fair share of State and Federal Government funding
I am dedicated and determined to deliver for the whole of the Gladstone Region and I give my assurance that should I be elected as Mayor of the Gladstone Regional Council, I will be unwavering in my quest to deliver on each of the five priority goals I have listed above.
