MARK YOUR CALENDAR – OFFICIAL EXHIBITION LAUNCHES AT THE GALLERY & MUSEUM

All are welcome to join Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett, guest speakers and Gladstone Region’s Special Seniors for the official launch of the 2019 Our Priceless Past: Oral Histories and Memorabilia exhibition and
publication, 1pm, Thursday, 22 August 2019. Celebrating Seniors Week in Queensland, the annual exhibition features stories of local Special Seniors, prepared and presented by selected Year 8 and Year 9 leadership students of Gladstone State High School.

2019 Our Priceless Past project is a joint initiative of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum and The Gladstone Observer, supported by LiveBetter Community Services.

Following the afternoon celebrating the Gladstone Region’s Special Seniors, the Gallery & Museum will be abuzz again on Friday night, 23 August 2019.

Three fabulous exhibitions will be officially opened from 6pm that evening – The 26th Golding Showcase: Port Curtis Callide Valley Youth Art Exhibition, Intercity Images: Gladstone Saiki Photographic Exchange Combined Images 2019 and Zonta – 100 years.

The 26th Golding Showcase is an annual initiative of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum Society, supported by the late society patron, Mr Cyril Golding (1920 – 2012). The exhibition offers young artists aged between 15 to 18 years the unique opportunity to display their artwork in a professional gallery space.
An annual photographic exchange between the Gladstone Region and Sister City, Saiki City, Japan, the Intercity Images Combined Images will feature 30 selected Gladstone Region photographs along with 20 images from
Japan. This exhibition is presented in conjunction with the Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee and supported by the Gladstone Regional Council.
Zonta – 100 years features a collection of local objects, images and memorabilia from The Zonta Club of Gladstone Inc., celebrating 100 years of Zonta International and 27 years of service to the Gladstone Region.
