Build Your Own Capital

Build Your Own Capital

Gladstone Region residents will be able to learn more about our nation’s capital through a hands-on touring exhibition which is currently visiting the Gladstone City Library. The Library will host the National Capital Authority’s educational travelling exhibition from the 4th of August to the 16th of October.

The exhibition, titled Brick by Brick: Build Your Own Capital, was officially opened last Thursday by Cr Matt Burnett. Brick by Brick is designed for children from four years of age and encourages participants to use LEGO™  to build a new national capital or replicate existing Canberra buildings.

Gladstone residents can have fun and learn facts about NCA’s Outreach, and Education Officer Roslyn Hull said participants could create and build a new LEGO™ national capital or use construction sheets provided to replicate iconic national institutions and buildings in Canberra.

“As part of this education program, children and their families are asked to think about their future and their capital’s future, to explore what they would want to see in the Canberra of tomorrow,” Ms Hull said.

“They can then let their ideas take shape and with more than 30,000 LEGOTM bricks to play with, the possibilities are endless.”
