THIS YEAR CHANEL COLLEGE WAS ONCE AGAIN THE HIVE OF ACTION FOR GLADSTONE RELAY FOR LIFE.
The tents went up, teams gathered and dedicated people walked all night to raise vital funds for Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services. Cancer affects so many families so the Gladstone event brings this huge gathering of people who just want to do something to help. It’s often devastating to see a family member or friend suffer at the unfairness of cancer and this night helps join the community together in the hope that once day Cancer will be curable.
While in 2017 there are less people in town and as some would say ‘less money around’ it certainly didn’t show at Relay for Life Gladstone with 54 Teams participating and 546 people who made the overnight experience of relaying a huge success. A proud announcement by the local organisers that over $80,852 has been raised and more funds are still coming in proves that Gladstone is a town of people who know how to make great things happen.
