A Rising Star’s Journey from Local Excellence to State Recognition in Cricket

In a notable accomplishment, Grace Rethamel, a talented young bowler from The Boyne Tannum Cricket Club, has managed to secure a spot in the NCQA Open Women’s team.

Set to play against South Queensland, she aims for a place in the Queensland Country Women’s Team, gearing up for the Nationals in the Hunter Valley come January next year. Grace’s dedication and skill make her a standout contender, and her club and supporters wish her the best on this exciting journey! 

Grace Rethamel expresses her excitement, aspiring to shine the light on women in cricket within regional areas.

“I’ve had the privilege of representing the CQ team and competing against Mackay. I was fortunate to secure a spot in the Country Central team, where we faced off against the North Country team,” shared Grace. 

“I remember feeling very excited, as I wasn’t quite expecting it but I’m so excited to be able to represent my club and my town as this opportunity means the world to me,”

“I remember when I was younger, I would tend to watch with interest from the sidelines and I guess that’s what inspired me to take up the sport and become more active and engaged within the cricket community,” explained Grace.

“The competition will take place in Gatton, where we’ll be taking on the South country team. I would just like to thank my coaches and the Boyne Tannum Cricket Club for all your unwavering support throughout the years and I look forward to what lies ahead.”

Our local cricket community eagerly anticipates the spirited performances that she’ll bring to the NCQA Open Women’s team. As she aims for a spot in the Queensland Country Women’s Team, Grace’s dedication to the sport and her community shines brightly.
