Gladstone is moving swiftly towards a more sustainable future with the commencement of construction on a $500 million solar farm located just 20 km northwest of the city at Aldoga. This solar farm will feature up to 820,000 solar modules, capable of generating 480 megawatts at peak capacity.
Additionally, Acciona is expected to “produce 200 megawatts of power by the year’s end” stated by Brett Wickham, managing director at Acciona Energia, adding to the sustainable energy output. The project is also anticipated to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, with MP Grace Grace highlighting that “over 930,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions will be avoided annually.”
