13 Jan Back to school supply drive supports local families in need
If you’ve started getting your children’s supplies together in readiness for them going back to school, spare a notebook or two, if you can, for those local families in need.
RE/MAX Gold Gladstone and Roseberry Qld have teamed up for the sixth year to help support the most vulnerable in our community through their annual Back to School Supply Drive.
Principal Shane McLeod thanked the community for their on-going support, and said the drive has been “so well supported by the Gladstone Region in previous years”.
“Last year we helped over 240 local children get back to school with the gear they needed,” he said.
“This year we would love for the drive to be even bigger, and give as many in-need students as possible the best possible chance to succeed.
“Whether it’s new exercise books, backpacks or textas and crayons, if it’s on a school booklist we can take it.
“We also accept store vouchers to places like Office Works, Office National and Big W, and will do the school shopping for you.”
Roseberry Qld General Manager Michelle Coats said the supply drive supported the more vulnerable families in our community in sending their children off to school with the resources they need.
“Research shows that children who don’t have the correct school supplies can struggle at school,” she said.
“So it is wonderful that we have the support of our community in donating items to help ensure local children have the best opportunity to succeed.”
School supply donations can be dropped into the RE/MAX Gold office, at 2 Mellefont Street, or the Roseberry Qld office, at 21 Dawson Road, by January 19.
