If you have always wanted to give back to the Gladstone community and never known how, pop down to Bindaree Aged Care Facility this Tuesday morning to lend a hand to this worthwhile cause!
At the Bindaree Aged Care Facility many generous people donate old clothes, linen, toys, shoes, bags, bric-a-brac, books, furniture and tools. However, without the Friends of Bindaree these goods would never be sorted and sold back to the community thus raising money for the members of the Bindaree aged Care Facility. This group of enthusiastic volunteers gather every Tuesday morning to organise the donations, and again on Wednesday to sell them at their ‘Garage Sale’. Sadly many unsellable objects are contributed forcing the volunteers to take these items to landfill and pay commercial rates, substantially eating away at the funds raised for the aged community. In order to lessen the size of the load taken to land fill, the group recover all recyclable materials. However, recently the team has been short of help and without the assistance from Boyne Tannum Men’s Shed, the group may have been faced with financial difficulty.
