THIS YEAR GLADSTONE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB WILL CELEBRATE ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY ON THE 17TH SEPTEMBER AT UNITED PARK.
As the oldest soccer club in Gladstone, they would like to call previous members to get in touch for this big celebration. This means that organised football in Gladstone will also be turning 50, and it is a huge milestone for the Gladstone Football Association. Gladstone United was first formed in 1966 by former QAL constructions workers and operators at the Young Australian Hotel. In the 1970’s and 80’s the club became the biggest sports club in Gladstone. In the beginning, the club’s fields stood near where Gladstone State High School now stands, and later purchased and moved to the fields they now have in Telina. This year the club has decided to change its badge back to the original ‘United Handshake’ in honour of 50th celebration. This badge was used for the first 30 years of the club’s operation. Over the years since the club’s inception many men, women, families and organisations have helped the United Football Club to move forward and they are asking anyone with a connection to the club to make contact. The celebrations would not be the same without all of those who have been a part of the club throughout the last 5o years.
