Calliope State High School is accelerating student learning with an innovative program that puts engineering, teamwork, and endurance to the test. As part of their hands-on approach to education, students are designing, building, and racing their own human-powered vehicles (HPVs) in endurance competitions, equipping them with valuable technical and problem-solving skills.
Last month, the program received a major upgrade with the arrival of a brand-new pedal car, an exciting addition that will enhance the team’s performance on the track. This new vehicle was made possible through a grant awarded to the Calliope State High School Parents and Citizens’ Association in a previous funding round. The association plays a key role in supporting extracurricular activities at the school, ensuring students have access to diverse learning experiences beyond the classroom.
