25 Feb Dolly’s Dream Foundation
Despite the rain on Saturday, the big fundraising event for the Rotary Club of Gladstone – Port Curtis took place and 100% of all proceeds raised went to ‘Dolly’s Dream Foundation’.
This charity was nominated by the President’s wife Kerrie Johnson, in memory of Amy Dolly Everett who was a victim of bullying at the young age of 14 years and ended her own life.
Close to their hearts, Kerrie and the Rotary Club decided on fundraising for this worthy cause throughout the year and to help raise awareness, to all those who are affected and hopefully prevent the lives of others being lost.
Leading up to this event was seven months of preparations and organising by Kerrie and Roy with the help of Rotarians, family, friends and businesses who contributed to the renovations of their home at 32 Glenlyon St Gladstone which dates back from 1912 – 1920. Items were also donated for the day of the combined ‘Open home and Garage sale’ from 8 am to 4 pm.
The final outcome proved to be a great success, people thoroughly enjoying the tour of the open home and purchasing a variety of goods and a total of $3,640.00 was raised. A raffle donated by Chemist Warehouse and Bunzl Safety was won by Michael Beale.
A big thank you to our local community and others for coming along and supporting the day and to those who were passionate about this worthy cause and without hesitation kindly donated monetary amounts. A special mention to local businesses for their generosity of money donated and goods. Our Gold Sponsor QWest Cranes for their continuous support throughout the year, also UGL Pty Ltd, Narbil Training, Barney Beach Accommodation, Bunzl Safety and Chemist Warehouse. Our Social Media support of our local radio station 4CC and the CQ Today Gladstone, The Observer and Gladstone News.
