40 years ago, on the 20 August 1982, Boyne Smelter (BSL) was officially opened by then Premier of Queensland, The Honourable Joh Bjelke-Petersen.
To celebrate the milestone, BSL held a ruby-themed gala ball on the anniversary, following a number of events for employees and their families throughout the year including a series of sundowners and barbeques across site.
