The fingerlings were released into Lake Awoonga on Friday, March 17 by employees of Aquaculture Gladstone, and the Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water, Member for Gladstone the Honourable Glenn Butcher.
The first release of fingerlings from the new facility is the first major release from GAWB in four years, following the successful commissioning of the organisation’s new $12 million multi-species fish hatchery. GAWB’s Chief Executive Officer, Darren Barlow, said that the milestone signals a welcome return to regular fish stocking activities at Lake Awoonga.
