On the 3rd of February 1911, Gladstone and the surrounding district experienced a cloud burst. This heavy rain brought down floodwaters, which flooded down the main street, inundating the pavements and going high on business entrances. Stan Doblo, a professional photographer, who had a shop in Goondoon Street found a good subject right outside his own front door. The floodwaters were roaring down the gutter.
