Iron Jack Gladstone Cup Day 11th August 2018
The Iron Jack Gladstone Cup saw record crowds through the gates at Ferguson Park with well over 2000 people in attendance. Club President, David Weinert commented on the fact that the turnout for the Gladstone Cup was the biggest it has been in almost 30 years and that there was around $50,000 in prize money up for grabs over the day.
There was plenty to do on the day, with many people taking advantage of the beautiful weather and the chance to dress up. The highly anticipated Heron Island Resort Fashions on the Field even did not disappoint. Liz Whitehead was one of the judges for Fashions on the Field, saying, “There was a number of strong outfits, that made the judging quite difficult”. Jolene Sturgess was the overall Best Dressed Womens Racewear winner, taking home over $3000 in prizes including a trip for two to Heron Island.
