26 Aug Local businesses shine in bridal awards
Several local “bridal” businesses have taken out the top spots in the 2021 Capricorn & Central Queensland Brides Choice Awards.
Kym Ramsay of Your Hair Design & Beauty, which won the Bridal Hair Stylist category, said styling was her passion.
“To me, being a part of a bride’s day fills my cup,” she said.
“There is something so rewarding in bringing a bride’s vision to reality, and it’s such an honour to share in such love and joy with their families.”
Sarah Dunn of Sarah Kate Dunn Makeup Artist said she was “beyond grateful” for winning in the Bridal Makeup Artist category.
“Winning this award means the absolute world to me, knowing that I have contributed towards making my brides vision for their special day come to life warms my heart,” she said.
“Having been in the makeup industry for over 10 years and a part of so many beautiful weddings, it’s safe to say makeup is a job I will never get tired of.
“I feel so fortunate to be able to do what I love and make a career from my passion.”
Brides Choice Awards is a non-member organisation launched in 2011, and is dedicated to recognising and rewarding wedding businesses that operate in regional Australia.
In 2021 the awards received 3144 nominations and 6430 votes in 39 categories.
Photographer Sarah Lette, who is Gladstone born and bred, said she was completely shocked when she was announced as the winner in the Wedding Photographer category.
“This is my fulltime job around three little humans, so mum life is a complete juggle sometimes,” she said.
“I have been in the wedding business for four years, and it’s nice to know all my hard work has paid off.”
It has been a difficult time for the wedding industry over the past year and a half due to COVID-19, and Gail and Tony Tobin from Granite Ridge Gardens said the award has given them a boost.
“We were surprised and delighted when we heard that we had won the Chapels, Churches and Ceremony Locations category,” they said.
“We were up against some beautiful venues from the CQ area, and this is the first year we have been nominated, so thank you to everyone who voted for us.”
Michelle Wilson said given that Ginger Says designs with artificial flowers winning the Wedding Florist category was a “big buzz” and a testament to their work.
“We work so incredibly hard to create florals as realistic as possible, so this award shows us that we are on the right track,” she said.
“We are so grateful and humbled by our win.”
