The 28th Year of the Boyne Tannum HookUp will begin on April 28 next year.
The much-loved fishing competition is a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. With more than 30,000 event attendees this year, made up of people from all over the country, it’s clear why the HookUp is Australia’s biggest family fishing competition. Nearly 28 years ago, the event was started as a way of keeping people in the area over the long weekend. Now, it is one of the Gladstone Region’s biggest tourism drawcards, and attracts people from all over the country.
In 2023, the Boyne Tannum HookUp will run from April 28 to April 30. With hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes, live music, and fireworks, the Boyne Tannum HookUp has grown massively since it began in 1995 and has become an essential part of the Gladstone Region’s yearly events, drawing thousands of people to the area.
Next year, in the spirit of the HookUp, locals are being encouraged to ‘Pink it Up’ to help welcome our visitors to the region. Paint your letterbox pink, wear a pink shirt, or put up pink solar lights in your house to show pride in Australia’s biggest fishing competition.
