13 Jan Rotary gives back to community with $10,000 worth of donations
The Rotary Club of Gladstone Midday helped spread the Christmas cheer in December, making $10,000 worth of donations to other not-for-profit organisations.
Among the fortunate recipients were Gladstone Food Centre; St Vincent De Paul Society; Anglicare; Shepherd’s Arms Orphanage in the Philippines; Salvation Army Gladstone; the Gladstone’s Women’s Shelter and Gladstone Chaplaincy.
Club President Gail Sellers said the club, which coordinates the monthly Charity Markets at Toondoon Botanic Gardens, tried to make similar donations yearly.
“It’s important to our club to give back to other local organisations who do so much to help members of our Gladstone Region community,” she said.
“We’re fortunate, as the facilitators of the Charity Markets, to be in a position to use the funds raised through the markets to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported the markets in 2021, whether that be as a stallholder or a customer and visitor, we look forward to seeing you back in 2022.”
The Rotary Club of Gladstone Midday meets Wednesdays from 12noon at the Gladstone Bowls Club for lunch and fellowship, everyone is welcome to attend.
The next Rotary Charity Market will take place on February 20 between 7am and 12noon at the Tondoon Botanic Gardens.
