13 Jan Shop to Win winner wins $10,000 with single entry
Kate Charalambous thought she was being scammed when she received the phone call from Elevate Media CEO Ashleigh Kvitko telling her she won $10,000!
“I couldn’t believe it, I still can’t really believe it, it doesn’t seem real,” the mum of two boys said.
Kate made her winning purchase at SportsPower Gladstone, where she purchased new school shoes for her youngest son, and said she remembers the day well.
“I was served by Kristy (Claridge) the owner, and I remember her asking me if I wanted to enter the competition,” she said.
“And I remember saying to her ‘you’ve got to be in it to win it’.
“I’ve entered so many competitions over the years and have never won anything, so this is amazing.
“This just shows you it pays to enter, shop local and keep our community going.”
The former Kin Kora State School Running Coach said she and her husband had already come up with their wish list for spending the $10,000 cash prize.
“My big thing is replacing the flooring in our house, and the kids need new school desks,” she said.
“We also need a new bed, but I know the kids have their own ideas of how they would like to see the money spent.
“On behalf of our family I’d like to say a huge thank you to SportsPower Gladstone, Elevate Media, and all the businesses who participated in Shop to Win.”
With almost 30,000 entries in the 2021 Shop to Win Competition, Ashleigh said Kate’s win was even more exciting considering she only entered the draw once.
“Congratulations to Kate and her family on taking out Gladstone’s biggest shopping competition and winning the $10,000,” Ashleigh said.
“With 30 amazing participating retailers this year I know Kate is going to have a hard time deciding where and how to spend the cash.”
Ashleigh said Shop to Win had been Gladstone’s favourite shopping competition for over five years.
“Not only is there no minimum spend to enter, the winner can choose to spend the prize at just one of the participating retailers or share the love across multiple,” she said.
“The competition is a great incentive to encourage residents to shop local and support those businesses who support our community, it’s also a great advertising campaign, with many businesses launching their end of year campaigns to coincide with the widely popular Shop to Win competition.
“We would like to thank all of last year’s participating retailers for their involvement and support, and we look forward to bringing Shop to Win back even bigger in 2022.”
