Tanya K scores Australia Post merchandise line

Local Gladstone artist Tanya Kalantry has been commissioned by Australia for her own merchandise line.

“I was approached July last year through a product development company, who were contracted by Australia Post to find an unknown Australia artist and they found me!” Tanya said.

The merchandise line features a wide range of amazing giftware with Tanya’s signature native Australian floral prints. The line includes aprons, tea towels, coffee mugs, water bottles, scented drawer sachets, reusable shopping bags, printed heat packs, hand crème and bath salts.

The product development company Ultimatum found Tanya by searching hashtags relating to Australian artists on Instagram.

“They wanted an Australian artist that did ‘Australiana’ and I think because my art is so bright and colorful it captured their attention.”

The whole process took over a year to complete with Ultimatum contacting Tanya early July last year, from there they had to pitch Tanya’s art to Australia post.

“During September they got back to me and said Australia Post loves your stuff and they want to go through with it all. From there it was just a matter of ordering in all the products from overseas and getting them distributed throughout Australia.”

When asked how it felt to have her name and art nationwide Tanya said,

“Oh gosh! I thought it was such a great opportunity, Australia Post is in every town around the country. It’s such great exposure.”
