The Australian National Busking Championships Returns To The Stage In Gladstone

Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited (GAPDL) announces that they will be hosting the Regional Australian National Busking Championships in Gladstone after the event’s show-stopping success last year.

Gladstone Busking Championships are coming to the Gladstone Region on Saturday 23 July, 2022.

This competition is a unique opportunity for performers from Central Queensland and beyond, to display and showcase their talents and entertain the community. Gladstone will also have an opportunity to shine, as buskers from beyond the region have chosen to travel here to perform. Three judges will make their way here, one from the home of the ANBC in Cooma, NSW.

The family-friendly event will take place on Saturday 23 July from 11am-5pm at “Busking Stations” along Goondoon Street and East Shores. The winners of each of the age categories will play at the Regional Finals & Awards Ceremony at the performance stage at Auckland House.

Applications have already been received from solo, duo and group musicians, however the competition is not limited to musicians, all street performers are encouraged to enter. Categories include: Open Age, Secondary School Age, Primary School Age and Special Judges Awards. There will also be a People’s Choice category for which the public will have the opportunity to vote on their favourite buskers by tipping buskers with Busker Tokens, which will be available to purchase on the day for $1 each.

This year there is an incredible opportunity for the winners of the open and secondary age categories. The Open age winner will receive two time slots to play at the Gympie Muster! Along with $1000 cash prize and Four x 4-Day passes to the event. This top prize is worth over $3000. The secondary age category will win One time slot to play at the Gympie Muster! Along with $600 cash prize and Four x 4-day passes Gympie Muster worth over $2300. An incredible opportunity for the winners to play at the Gympie Muster and gain amazing exposure.

The winners will perform at the Regional Final Concert & Awards Presentation at 6pm at the end of the event and will be invited to play at the ANBC National Grand Final in Cooma NSW on 26 November 2022.
