Two poignant exhibitions will soon come to a close at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, with their last day of display Saturday 21 May.
Katrina Elliott’s ‘One Wish’ exhibition is inspired by the traditional Japanese belief of Senbazuru – “If one folds 1000 cranes, one’s wish will come true.” Working with staff and patients from the Gladstone Hospital Cancer Care Unit, Katrina was able to fold more than 1000 paper cranes for the exhibition. The colourful origami installation soars above her other photography, sculptural and assemblage works that explore hope, health, courage and support.
