National Water Week is celebrated in October, and to promote sound water practices the Gladstone Area Water Board last week launched an art competition for primary school students.
Three Lenovo Tablets are up for grabs for the winners, and book packs will also go to the schools of the winning students. The competition is open in three age categories – Prep to Year 2, Year 3 & 4, and Year 5 & 6. GAWB is encouraging kids to create and A3 poster that reflects the 2016 National Water Week theme ‘water, life, growth’. Entries opened on the 1st of September and will close Friday the 7th of October. The winners will be announced during National Water Week, from the 16-22 October. Entries will be judged on their interpretation of the National Water Week theme, overall appearance, use of materials and originality of design.
This year’s National Water Week theme is ‘water, life, growth’ and fosters sensible water practices and investment in all the water sources to ensure we don’t exhaust our current sources in potentially challenging times ahead.
All schools in the region are encouraged to take part in the competition and if you would like more information or require an entry form visit www.gawb.qld.gov.au
