The local organisation of more than 45 years is getting a refresh, though it will still hold the same values of community and inclusivity.
The Gladstone Community Linking Agency (GCLA) was formed in 1977 by a group of parents and community members, and was originally called the District Combined Handicapped Association. The organisation was created because of the group’s shared vision of a community life that encouraged choice for their children with disabilities. At the time, Gladstone had no services available for people with disabilities, and those that did were being asked to leave in order to receive adequate services.
