07 Apr WORLD HEALTH DAY – 7TH APRIL 2019 – HEALTH IS A HUMAN RIGHT; IT’S TIME FOR HEALTH FOR ALL
This year on World Health Day the World Health Organisation (WHO) is aiming to increase awareness surrounding the importance of having Universal Health Coverage.
Universal health coverage is WHO’s number one goal. The key to achieving this is to ensure that everyone can obtain the care they need when they need in right in the heart of the community.
Progress is being made in countries in all regions of the world, however, millions of people still have no access at all to health care. Millions more are forced to choose between health care and other daily expenses such as food, clothing and even housing.
To make health for all a reality, we need individuals and communities who have access to high-quality health services so that they take care of their own health and the health of their families; skilled health workers providing quality, people-centred care; and policy-makers committed to investing in primary health care.
In the Gladstone region, we are fortunate to have access to many primary and allied health care providers.
Here are some tips of what you can do to keep your health in check –
- Get enough sleep – when we sleep, our body regenerates and repairs helping us prepare for the day ahead.
- Exercise – keeping your body moving every day
- Eat a balanced diet – fuel your body with good foods
- If something doesn’t seem right, see your doctor, as they say, prevention is better than a cure.
