14 Jul GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY – NATIONAL TREE DAY WITH BILL ROBERTSON TOYOTA!
Bill Robertson Toyota and Toyota Australia invite all residents in Gladstone to get their hands’ dirty planting trees on Sunday 28 July to celebrate National Tree Day.
Bill Robertson Toyota will be co-hosting a free community tree planting event alongside, Gladstone Regional Council and Conversation Volunteers to celebrate Australia’s largest annual tree planting and nature care event, which encourages communities to help preserve the environment for future generations.
“National Tree Day is an important national campaign that Toyota dealerships across the country use as a fulfilling opportunity to connect with our local communities and to do good for our environment,” said James Robertson, Dealer Principal at Bill Robertson Toyota. “National Tree Day is an opportunity for all Australians to dig in and get their hands dirty to help preserve the environment for future generations to come. Toyota Australia is committed to a greener tomorrow and we are proud to always see such a great turnout at live sites all around the country, year on year”.
Volunteers attending the National Tree Day community tree planting event will be adding to last year’s site, planting a variety of local native species for the community to help restore and strengthen the vegetation at Joe Joseph Park and to increase the habitat for our local wildlife, prevent erosion and sediment entering the Gladstone Harbour and to beautify this popular waterway.
‘The planting site at last year’s event has shown a vast improvement in plant diversity and we can see native wildlife such as native bees returning to the area’ said Linda Fahle, Conservation Volunteers Regional Manager.
All tools, equipment, plants and mulch will be provided on the day. Please bring along your hat, long pants, long sleeved shirt, closed-in shoes, gloves and your smile. Participants will also be treated to a free sausage sizzle, thanks to Bill Robertson Toyota.
2019 is the 20th consecutive year of Toyota Australia’s support for the national campaign. Last year nearly 250,000 volunteers took part in National Tree Day at over 3,000 sites across the country, planting more than 900,000 trees, grasses and shrubs to help green urban areas and give back to the environment.
