Tennis Seniors Australia recently hosted its annual Teams Carnival in Hobart, drawing over 700 players ranging from 30 to over 80 years old. Four talented participants from Gladstone – Ann Leinster, Paula Rideout, Gayle Aldridge and Malcolm Pollock – joined the likely competition.
The event, sprawling across six venues in Hobart and extending to Cygnet, saw Malcolm competing in the men’s over 65 age group against players from the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Despite not securing any medals, the Gladstone team, including Ann, Gayle, and Paula, exhibited outstanding teamwork. They played alongside three ladies from South East Queensland and finished the week undefeated, narrowly losing in a closely contested final against Tasmania.
