Gladstone Men’s Shed stands as a vibrant hub, inviting men of all ages to come together in a shared space where the echoes of skill, storytelling, and community reverberate. It’s more than just a workshop; it’s a sanctuary where individuals find purpose and fulfilment through the act of creation and collaboration. Here, hands are not only engaged in crafting tangible projects but also in weaving the intangible threads of friendship and camaraderie.
Gladstone Men’s Shed is celebrating a major milestone in the construction of their expanded facility at Barney Point with the completion of the concrete slab for the new shed, which was made possible through the donation of labour and equipment by Jake and Renee Simmons at Simmons Civil of Boyne Island. President Gerry Graham said that the generous contribution of local businesses like Simmons Civil, McCosker Contracting, Pructon Construction and Singh’s Concrete Pumping has been a game-changer in making this project possible. This in-kind support from the local businesses has been underpinned by cash grants from Bendigo Community Bank $100 000, Gladstone Regional Council $30 000, Gambling Community Benefit Fund $35 000 and Australian Government $12 500.
